Weekend Wrap Up // Datenight

I love a date night with McMuffin. We kicked it off with a super yummy dinner at Spotted Horse and then onto the main event...Grace Potter & The Nocturnals! The show was incredible—talk about true professionals. I was on such a high walking out of the show, AND THEN we literally ran into Matt Burr, the drummer extraordinaire. Cue embarrassing photo sesh with yours truly...

Brazilian Jazz.

Having a full-out Carrie Mathison jazz freakout with bossa nova over here. And becoming even more obsessed with the colorful album covers that make me feel like I'm vacationing in Brazil.

 This music is perfect to work to! Be sure to kick it off with a little Girl from Ipanema.

And since some of you may have been anticipating a little Bobby Brown action with that blog title... I wouldn't dare disappoint. Break it down now.

This past weekend my parents were in town and my sister spent some QT with us too. Here are a couple shots of our Monday Night Dinner—Fairfield Edition. (Some of you might know about my family's long standing tradition to go to my Nonna's house, in Rochester, New York, every Monday night. I really REALLY miss it. So this was a nice treat.)

I Get a Kick from Champagne.

What a freaking awesome day! I feel like I should report that my birthday gifts were neither black nor yellow. But they were delightful, delicious and de-lovely. In that order.

McMuffin planned the entire day starting with a delightful spa morning just for me, lunch at a super delicious spot, (complete with champagne) and then the two of us had the most amazing seats for the de-lovely broadway show, Anything Goes.

And let me just say that Sutton Foster (above) blew. me. away. I was literally crying tears of joy during the big tap number. I'm sure McMuffin thought I was crazy. But what he didn't know was how many times I played the Anything Goes record when I was little and made up my own tap dances and then performed them for my audience Mom and Dad.

And another fun fact, Kelly Bishop played Hope's Mom. Who's that? Oh just Baby's Mom in Dirty Dancing—maybe you've heard of it.

Thank you to everyone for the kind birthday wishes and words. I felt so cool and so loved. The perfect blend-ship.

Summer Girls

It's so true that a song can take you back to a moment in your life—right down to the minute.

The Summer after my first year at college was when LFO released a piece of musical genius. I know you know what I'm talking about, along with all of the words.



Totally remember going to a party with a boy I had a crush on (who shall remain nameless) in his Mom's purple Pontiac Grand Prix. And I thought I was so cool because I had on a super cute Abercrombie & Fitch top with a gray maxi skirt and flip flops. Is it rediculous that I remember what I wore on a random night in 1999? Yes, yes it is.

Anyway, I hope you all have an equally memorable Labor Day weekend. I'll be riding my bike and spending time with some very special people.

DMB Design?

I'm pretty sure the last 3 concerts I went to were to see Britney Spears (don't hate)—the last of which was probably 2 years ago. Don't get me wrong, I love a good concert—but it's not on my top 5 things I'd like to do when I have a night off. And I really like music—in fact 80% of my brain space is filled with song lyrics—but I'm not a big concert goer. This wasn't always the case.

A little band called Dave Matthews Band dropped a couple albums: Under the Table and Dreaming and Crash—high school and college kids in the 90's went crazy. I was one of them. I had to go to every concert that A. was in a 200 mile radius from my parents' house and B. my parents would let me spend the $70+ on.

It's been a really long time since I've seen DMB in concert or even cared to for that matter, but DAMN! the design for their Caravan tour has blown my mind! Just look at this beautiful vintage, circus-y gloriousness:

I love how after a concert has passed they stamp the photo like you would a passport and then make it into a link to see photos, as opposed to being static images. SMARTY PANTS!

Hmmm. Governors Island is less than 60 miles from my house...looks like I'll be sending this link to McMuffin to see if he wants to make it our next date night.
