Perfect is so... Meh.

The Oscars are this upcoming Sunday and you know what that means... the Red Carpet critique by a bunch of "perfection experts"... yea. okay.

Being a graphic artist, I like when a design turn out perfect—as deemed by a client. Or when a meal I cook receives rave reviews by my family and guests. But I'm starting to get really bored with what perfect looks like on the red carpet.

As I flip through the red carpet looks from all the award shows this year, Lena Dunham's was the only one that made me stop dead in my tracks and just smile. Maybe it's because that color yellow makes me really happy. Maybe it's because her lipstick and hair color and style accent it perfectly. But I also appreciate that she still looks like herself. No orange spray tan, no duckface, no extensions or creepy pointy finger nails, just real. And really pretty.

The Best // Emmy Awards

The ONLY person I saw walk the red carpet at the Emmys last night and thought—WOW! was Jessica Pare. Bold color? Check. Unexpected but fitting edge-y shoe? Check. Classic hair, makeup and accessories. Triple check. And pockets to boot!

There's always haters but I think Jessica's look was totally current, and feminine without being saccharine. Gold star!

Friday Faves // Zappos

In case you live under a rock—leopard is the (not-so) new neutral for Fall and Winter. If it's a bit scary to dive in head first with a leopard dress, top or skirt, then you can add a bit of WOW with some of these leopard print accessories for every budget at Zappos.com.

From Alexander Wang (scarf and clutch) to Kate Spade (iPhone case), and even UGG (slippers) and LAUREN by Ralph Lauren (belt) you're sure to find something that fits your budget and will make you outfit whether you're hitting the town or lounging around the house.

Getting my kicks.

Unless you live under a rock you're probably familiar with NikeiD—Nike's custom sneaker program. The other day, while creating my own pair of Nike hightops I was given the choice to have what ever I want written (under 6 characters) on the backs. UH-mazing!

What I'm Working on Wednesday // Countess Cards

I was super excited to design new business cards for the lovely ladies at Fairfield Countess! The editors of this high fashion meets local food, and universal beauty blog needed some calling cards as chic as they are. We used European sizing—obvi—and kept the type and colors clean and classic: black, white and burgundy. Gorg!
Definitely visit the Fairfield Countess site for all things fabulous happening in Fairfield County. And be sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter for up-to-the-minute buzz.

PopShoppin'

With PopShop Market opening it's proverbial doors in a bit over 2 weeks (June 1st at Fairfield Theatre Company's warehouse and parking lot in Fairfield, CT), I seem to be eating and breathing our wide range of fantastic vendors. I want to share a few of my favorites—but of course, you'll have to pop in and judge for yourself.

All in the Family

Introducing the newest blogging member of my family—my cousin, Silvia.

Glamyng is where fashion and architecture collide (with an emphasis on fashion). Here are my faves:

Cannot wait for Silvia to move back to New York...hopefully soon!

Whitecaps.

{ 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 }

From Chloe to Topshop and everywhere in between, (Stone Cold Fox and Marisia Swim) scallops are all the rage! The bad news is that they don't look good with copious scalloped potatoes (that I may have indulged in over the Easter holiday.)

Wait a Minute Mr. Postman.

When I'm not in front of my computer designing up a storm, I'm usually running (swimming and biking) around with McMuffin and boys. Which is why online shopping makes so much sense for my lifestyle. Here are couple packages that I was super excited to open this week.

And this peachy/pink backless maxi dress from American Apparel, for an upcoming vacay!
(While I was trying this on Trump asked me if I was a princess. Why yes I am, Trump. Yes I am.)

Happy Weekend, people! Catch you back here next Monday.

What I'm Working on Wednesday // Spring 13 Lookbook

The Miz Mooz Spring '13 lookbook was printed last August and I've been patiently waiting to share this super fun project with you! I am in love with the retro style of this book—take a peek at the cover and sample spread.

Right?!
Can we please bring back the head-kerchief—a la Laverne & Shirley?

Just Us Mannequins.

Our dress picks of the night at the Fairfield Countess + Mitchells New Store Within A Store launch party. It's difficult to see, but mine has beaded black fringe and Lo's has yellow fringe encased in yellow lace. BANANAS! Can you tell we have a slight dance costume obsession?

Just us mannequins—we blend right in.
Cheers!

Riding the Oscar Bench.

The majority of the attention on the Oscar's red carpet always goes to the nominated. But what if there was an equal opportunity best dressed list? I think it'd look like this:

Hair + Makeup + Dress Fit + Dress Style + Jewelry + Shoes + Kate Capshaw looks 20 years younger than her real age (Bonus 5,000 points). WINNER!!!!!

Louise Roe & Naomie Harris look pretty darn perfect from head to toe and in my opinion blow a bunch of the nominees out of the water. (I wonder if the pressure just gets to them?)

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum are the vision of perfection walking on red carpeting. No makeup artist can replicate that pregnancy glow.

For further proof, see Harvey Weinstein's glorious arm candy, Georgina Chapman. Being a fashion designer can't hurt in times like these.

Classic. Clean. Handsome. Jeremy Renner... Nailed it!

Who wants to be all jammed up in a tight fitting sequin-scratching gown when it's time to dance the night away? Not this girl. Natalie Portman looks super comfy and elegant. If those earrings get stolen, it was probably me—just saying.

Friday Faves // Pink + Yellow + Black

Okay, so the bracelet isn't pink, yellow or black, but I LOVE it—so in she goes.
Happy Super Bowl Weekend!
